GEISMAR, LA, August 12, 2021 – BASF in Geismar was presented with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber’s (BRAC) Diversity Star Award during its sixth annual Diversity in Business Event, which was held virtually on Wednesday. The Diversity Star Award recognizes businesses in the Capital Region that leverage the value of diversity in organizations.
BASF was named a recipient of the Diversity Star Awards for exceptional diversity and inclusion practices within the company and the community. BRAC highlighted BASF’s Female Leaders Advancing Manufacturing Excellence (FLAME) program, which helps women in manufacturing, its employee-led resource groups, its Supplier Diversity Program and its dedication to career mobility barriers for women and minority communities, along with numerous other diversity and inclusion initiatives.

GEISMAR, LA March 31, 2021 – BASF is supporting St. Amant High School’s Navy Junior ROTC program with a $5,500 donation toward its Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Program. The donation funds JROTC’s new underwater robotics program called Sea Perch. Sea Perch offers cadets in the program an opportunity to gain hands-on experience building and operating a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). The unit is led by Certified Senior Naval Science Instructor Larry Ungar. “Without the funding from BASF, this course would have been purely academic, and we would have had only half the number of students,” said Ungar. “There isn’t a day that goes by that my students aren’t anxious to learn what they will be doing next. We can't thank BASF enough.”
